Senior Piano Teacher

  • B.A. of Arts, Music; University of California - Davis

  • M.A.T. Master of Arts in Teaching; Longy School of Music of Bard College

Since Melody was five years old, she has been learning piano. Growing up in California, she was awarded several awards as part of the American College of Musicians and National Guild of Piano Teachers (NGPT), including the High School Diploma certificate. In 2021, she graduated from the University of California - Davis (UC Davis) with a Bachelor of Arts, Music.

During her time in college, she worked as a piano teacher and was also a piano accompanist for Lecturer Munoz’ voice students at the UC Davis. Melody performed in many ensembles, such as the UC Davis Chamber Music as a piano accompanist or performer, Indonesian Gamelan Ensemble as part of the percussion section, and as a piano accompanist for the UC Davis Concert Band. She learned piano in college from Lecturer Swan and is grateful for her tutelage in
contributing to quarterly recitals, and most importantly, her junior and senior recitals.

In 2022, Melody Chiang obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching from the Longy School of Music of Bard College. During that period, she worked with the Chairman of the American College of Musicians and gained knowledgeable piano pedagogy skills and techniques that
assisted in her teaching period. Melody has been teaching virtual and in person private piano lessons for several years to both children and adults, ages ranging from 4 to 30 years old. As part of the National Guild of Piano Teachers’ Association, she has experience in preparing students for piano certification exams.

As a piano teacher at Cadence Academy of Music, she is dedicated to providing knowledgeable, inspiring, and fun private piano lessons. Her teaching philosophy is to give students a safe space to express themselves musically and socially. She takes feedback from
parents into consideration as well and adjusts her lesson plans accordingly. She looks forward to meeting students and being a part of their musical journey. Outside of the musical world, she likes cats, handmade art markets, and fruit teas!
